Have you ever thought about becoming a yoga teacher or deepening your practice?
More than just a yoga teacher training, this program will give you the tools to live the yoga off the mat so that you can be the very best version of yourself. Whether you’re planning to teach or not, the skills you learn through our teacher training can be applied to help you become a better accountant, astronaut, sister, mom or dog walker. Peek behind the curtain to discover the real magic of why the yoga makes you feel so good and why yoga people are so damn happy.

Yoga teacher training is a life-changing experience that will enhance all areas of your life. Our 200hr Teacher Training is a dynamic yoga immersion program that blends practice, lecture, group and self-study. You can expect to learn fundamental teaching formulas, yoga postures, breathing techniques, meditation, anatomy, sequence building, history & philosophy of yoga and so much more (plus a couple of surprises!). We’ll also show you how to incorporate what you have learned into your life and the lives of others.
Plus the bonds you’ll form with your fellow classmates and our community will sustain and inspire you long after the program ends.

What is the Light On Learning Yoga Teacher Training all about? The 200HR Light On Learning Yoga Teacher Training, or LOLYTT200 for short, is a semi-intensive program that trains students to be great yoga teachers, and/or better human beings. Graduates will leave the program with the skills to not only teach classes that meet our highest Light On Yoga standards, but also with the skills to live a more meaningful and connected life. LOLYTT200 covers all traditional teacher training topics, and has additional modules and activities that help you develop the soft skills and practical experience needed to teach safe, multi-levelled yoga classes, across several class styles. Students study carefully selected course materials, gain theoretical knowledge, and have fun playing around with practical exercises.
-
What are the dates? The program is on a part time schedule, beginning in mid-March 2023 and ending in May 2023. We will meet every Friday evening, with a full day every Saturday and Sunday (excluding Easter weekend) starting the 17th of March with graduation taking place on the 27th of May.
-
Who will be teaching me?LOLYTT200 will be co-lead by studio owner Kat Meadows and senior teacher Anna Helena Malmi, with the rest of the LOY fam making cameo appearances to share their own unique yoga practices. Each of our teachers specializes in a different style of yoga, and the variety in offerings keeps things interesting and engaging. We’ll also be joined by a few of our superstar friends who have been carefully selected based on their experience and expertise with respect to each course topic. Check back soon for more info on our special guests!

Now, down to details. The full cost of the LOLYTT200 is USD$3,400. Early Birds (up until a month before start date) can expect a discounted price of USD$2,999. We want you living your best life ASAP, so we’ve got a couple of payment options: in full, or in monthly installments.

I have a full-time job. Can I still fit a Yoga Teacher Training into my schedule?Absolutely! All face to face parts of the training will take place on Friday evenings and weekends, and where possible you will be given homework tasks to complete in your own time, according to your own schedule.
-
Can I enroll in the YTT in order to deepen my own practice rather than to teach?Definitely! This course will give your life an all-round glow up (!) whether you plan to teach or not.
-
Do I have to be able to do advanced poses before becoming a teacher? Not at all! We’ll meet you where you are, but most importantly show you that being able to hold a 5 minute handstand doesn’t equal an advanced yogi.
-
Will I be qualified to teach Yoga once I have completed the YTT?Yes! The YTT is both a practical and theoretical training designed to make you a confident and effective yoga teacher. All students will be given all the necessary skills for developing themselves as yoga instructors in a supportive environment. We also offer a mentorship program for graduates wishing to continue their studies in the Light On Yoga studio.
-
What are the requirements for joining the YTT?Having a yoga practice, an open mind and 100% commitment to the course are the only requirements.
-
Are booklets and materials included in the price of the YTT?Yep, all materials are included. You’ll be given a Student Manual and an Asana Manual and will be able to keep any worksheets provided. Students will also have access to our library of yoga books and materials.
-
Where will the YTT be held?Where else!? All face to face components will be held at Light on Yoga, Polanco. Level 3, 10B Julio Verne, Polanco Section III. Options to join certain sessions via zoom are available if necessary.
-
Are there any books or other materials that I need to read before the YTT?We’ll send out a recommended reading list to all students once registered, but don’t worry - we’ll keep it succinct.
-
Will there be homework?Yes, but our intentions are pure! Where possible, we will give you homework tasks so that the course better fits your personal schedule.
-
How will I be graded? At Light On Yoga we pride ourselves on setting you up for success, giving our students all of the tools needed to pass the course with flying colors. However, we must guarantee that our graduates meet the same teaching standards as all of our LOY teachers, which means that you will have to work hard. As with most things, typically you only get out what you put in, but students willing to do the work will be rewarded with a certificate. Grades will be based on attendance, as well as written and practical exams.
-
What if I can’t attend the entire course or have to miss a day or two?100% attendance is required to pass and receive your certificate, but we’re not dragons - we understand that life happens. Make up classes will be available and approved on a case by case basis.
-
Is the YTT Yoga Alliance certified?Stick with us here, but after discussions with fellow yoga teachers combined with our own personal experiences, we have intentionally decided not to certify with Yoga Alliance ‘cos it just doesn’t align with our values. And we’re nothin’ if not genuine and true to ourselves. But let’s discuss this further, because we’re passionate about exploring this topic. We’ll be covering it in more depth at a future Q & A, but for now we’ll leave some recommended readings below: https://www.brettlarkin.com/what-is-yoga-alliance-and-do-i-need-an-ryt-certificate-to-teach-yoga/#:~:text=That%20being%20said%2C%20a%20Yoga,or%20that%20you%20are%20trustworthy. https://www.purplelotusyoga.com/yoga-alliance-registration/
